PUSHING PROGRESSION

Animation Screenwriting & Research

When Boombox Group asks for a meeting, I accept without asking any questions. It’s always cool, they’re always cool, and the writing is always an interesting challenge. Pushing Progression is a sports documentary series for Red Bull Media House about the origins and evolution of different action sports, and the role Red Bull has played along the way. I joined the project for the second episode, Freerunning, hosted by Tony Hawk.

Tony declined to have his lines scripted (he does his own stunts, after all), so I researched and scripted the animated history segment at the beginning of the episode that explains the origins of the sport. I repeated that role for the episodes about High Diving, Freeride Mountain Biking, Kiteboarding, Hard Enduro, and Breaking.
