ANDERS J. SVENSSON | COPYWRITING PORTFOLIO

TYPE TRILOGY

Screenwriting

Typography is fascinating in the same way as architecture, and the average person has the same limited understanding of both. In 2011, I wrote a trilogy of short animated films about typefaces to make the art & science of type more accessible. The style of the films was inspired by retro science films, like Frank Capra's Our Mr. Sun (1956).

"Our Fonts, Our Friends" is the first in a series of retro science films I wrote about fonts, with animation and design by Dan Parry, and additional design by Drew Ng. In this installment, the narrator discusses font styles, how to choose your font, and where to find an endless supply of affordable fonts.
"Ready, Typeset, Go!" is the second in a series of retro science films I wrote about fonts, with animation and design by Dan Parry, and additional design by Drew Ng. In this installment, the narrator explains how simple adjustments like font size and technical tricks like kerning can make great fonts look even better.
"Go Wild With OpenType" is the third in a series of retro science films I wrote about fonts, with animation and design by Dan Parry, and additional design by Drew Ng. In this installment, the narrator explains OpenType technology, the main benefits of OpenType fonts, and how to access their special features and expanded character sets. There are monkeys.
